Digital Champions Network May Update

The Digital Champions Network has been hard at work across Kent this year helping people all over our county with their digital skills! The Digital Champions Network kicked off last year following a very successful marketing campaign, bringing in a large number of applications from a wide range of people who wanted to do their part to tackle digital exclusion. We now have over 200 Digital Champions on our network, all working to bridge the digital divide in their own way.

Our Digital Champions provide support in various ways, meeting people across Kent on a 1-2-1 basis to provide digital skills support to any resident who needs it. We have had volunteers working with a wide range of organisations across Kent too, from charities like Friendly Faces of Kent and Age concern that work to combat loneliness, and a wide range of Job Centres to reach those trying to access employment – digital skills underpin all experiences of the modern day, and we have been helping people from all walks of life, from ages 18 to 80+!

We’ve been working hard to make sure our volunteers’ voices are heard, already having run two successful networking events for our Champions with plans for many more throughout the year! During these events, we have had talks from VUE IT Training and Rebel Business School, who have shared their valuable experiences on supporting people in their own companies. These meetings have been a fantastic opportunity to hear from some great speakers and our own volunteers, taking onboard their feedback and continually improving the way we run our network.

The people on this network work so hard to do their part to help everyday people with problems that may seem simple to many but can be huge barriers. If you don’t know how to add an attachment to an email for example, or video call a family member, or set up a new device, then so many things can be difficult to access. Our volunteers are always looking for more people to support, so if you know anyone who needs some digital skills support then please do call us on 03000410950.
