Casestudy: Funding Digital After School Clubs with Monkton Primary School
In the academic year 2022/23 a pilot was delivered with Monkton Church of England Primary School, providing them funding to run a digital after school club. Monkton Primary school worked with the digital club provider Code Kids to provide the opportunity to their students across a 6 week period. The experience was very positive and has provided a case study to showcase how schools can spend this funding and the impact it can have on its pupils, parents and the school as a whole.
Parent Voice: "J enjoyed coding club massively and looked forward to it each week, which was lovely to see him so engaged. He would tell me about it afterwards, and I really got the sense he was actually learning about the programme and not just playing on a screen. Would love for him to be able to attend this again and learn more."
Pupil Voice: "Very fun club and I really liked the teacher who was very skilled and knew lots about coding. I would like it to start up again."
School Voice: "It was fantastic to be able to offer a coding club, with an expert in the field. She brought all the resources the children needed and was knowledgeable and able to truly excite the children about coding. It was great to be able to learn from her, along with the children, and know that someone else had done the planning and progression allowing me to turn up and just support the club and enjoy! This enabled us to run a club on a night where it may not have previously been possible, allowing us to extend our wrap around care provision."
Employer Voice: "Thought I’ll update you quickly about Monkton. I had a meeting with them this week and can’t describe it in words how pleased they are with the funding. They are so thankful and full of such grateful words for you guys! So thank you so much from the bottom of my heart!"
