Connectivity
Connectivity Access Scheme
The Connectivity Access Scheme provides digitally excluded residents with access to free connectivity solutions for a specific time frame. The scheme is primarily funded by Kent County Council, through it's Helping Hands Scheme under the Digital Inclusion & Capabilities funding stream. The funding has been made available through various COVID-19 Grants by the government. Additionally, we have secured funding from NHS Kent & Medway to support patients and improve health outcomes.
Social Tariffs for Broadband
To enable people in need to access cheaper deals, broadband providers are making discounted broadband packages available which could save eligible households about £200 per year. These discounted deals are also known as Social Tariffs for Broadband.
Social Connectivity Project
The Social Connectivity Project in Kent started in November 2021 and now sits within Kent County Council's Broadband team. The project created and promotes a toolkit for district councils and housing associations to use to ensure all of Kent's residents have access to gigabit fibre broadband.
